At VCA, our dedicated Guidance Counselor, Michelle Thomae, goes beyond being a resource – she's a partner in your student's journey through middle and high school. She recognizes the intricate challenges and opportunities of adolescence, and her role is to empower students to navigate them with confidence.
Collaboration is Key:
Michelle works hand-in-hand with both teachers and parents to ensure a holistic approach to student development. She:
Collaborates with teachers: By consulting with teachers, she gains valuable insights into student performance, academic needs, and social interactions within the classroom environment.
Partners with parents: Regular communication with parents keeps everyone informed and allows for a united front in guiding students.
Together, this collaborative approach fosters a supportive network where students can receive academic guidance, explore career paths, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and discover their unique passions. Ultimately, our goal is to equip students for academic success, personal growth, and a fulfilling future that aligns with their God-given talents and life's purpose.
Guidance Counseling
Middle School:
Navigating the middle school years can be exciting and challenging. At VCA, our Guidance Counselor is here to support your student's journey. We provide a safe space for students to explore their emotions, develop healthy coping mechanisms, and build self-confidence. We also help them discover their academic strengths and interests, preparing them for a smooth transition to high school.
High School:
High school is a time of exploration and decision-making. Our Guidance Counselor empowers students to explore various career and educational pathways. We offer workshops and presentations to help students understand their strengths, explore potential careers (including the military!), and research colleges and universities. We also guide students through the college application process, ensuring they have the resources and support to achieve their post-graduation goals. Our offerings of AP classes, partnerships with Ivy Tech for summer programs and Grace College for early college credit offer exciting opportunities for students to get a head start on their future. Ultimately, our goal is to empower your student to graduate from VCA prepared for success, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and faith to pursue their dreams.
