Friday Update, March 21st

When music and meaningful words come together, these poetic thoughts stick in my mind and return as I muse on life, future, and purpose. In my seating chart 3-ring binder is a printed copy of the words by a wonderful couple named Keith and Kristyn Getty that I heard a couple years ago. It spoke to me deeply, so, I wanted to share this with you in hopes that the words and melody might touch your heart deeply as well.

My worth is not in what I own

Not in the strength of flesh and bone

But in the costly wounds of love

At the cross

I am evaluated by the administration in regards to my teaching skills, hopefully respected by my peers, loved and respected by my wife and occasionally blessed by a note from a student….but what do I place my worth upon?

My worth is not in skill or fame

In win or lose, in pride or shame

But in the blood of Christ that flowed

At the cross

At my tender age, the next verse speaks to me even more personally.

As summer flowers fade and die

Fame, youth and beauty hurry by

But life eternal calls to us

At the cross

I like to stop and remember that this is not all there is!! Time has passed quicker than I expected it to pass. My years of memories out number my years ahead of me. That is not a sad or depressing thought because there are more wonderful things to come than I can imagine.

 I rejoice in my redeemer

Greatest treasure

Wellspring of my soul

I will trust in him, no other

My soul is satisfied in Him alone

I Timothy 6:6 “Yet true godliness with contentment is itself great wealth”

May we experience great contentment because of what Jesus did for us at the Cross.  Check out the song by the Getty's and be blessed today.

Senior Class Mission Trip - March 22 - 29

Please pray for our Seniors and chaperones as they serve with Adventures in Missions in Puerto Rico this week!  Pray that God would prepare their hearts to serve, that they would recognize moments to lean on the Holy Spirit, and that everything they do would point others to Jesus.  Thank you to all of our VCA family who have supported this trip financially and prayerfully.  Watch the VCA Facebook page for updates throughout the week with a full update after Spring Break.

 CHOICE Scholarship Refund Letters

The VCA business office will begin collecting information to process CHOICE Scholarship applications for the 2025-2026 school year on April 7.  While there is legislation presented for universal School Choice, we won’t know until June if it is passed.  At this time the school will still need a copy of the 1040 form from your 2024 tax return to process your child’s CHOICE application for the 2025-2026 school year.  You can submit a paper copy to the business office or email (remember to white out social security numbers) to vcabusinessoffice@vcacademy.info.  Mrs. Huber will notify you by email once the application has been approved by the state of Indiana.  CHOICE applications will be processed by VCA up until August 1, 2025.
