MEET THE BOARD OF VICTORY CHRISTIAN ACADEMY!

The VCA Board of Directors is thrilled to welcome three exceptional new members to our team!  Here’s a brief introduction to each of them:

Tim VanTil has been married for 19 years and is a proud father of two wonderful children who currently attend Victory Christian Academy. He specializes in selling and renting heavy equipment and has spent his entire life in the Calumet region. In his free time, Tim enjoys boating, fishing, golfing, and has a passion for cars and motorcycles.

Zak Fleming, a Northwest Indiana native, and his wife are dedicated to raising their three children in Valparaiso, where they have firmly planted their roots. Zak shares, “I am honored to be elected to the VCA School Board and am committed to making decisions led by the Holy Spirit. I look forward to what the Lord has in store for Victory Christian Academy!”

Heather Tyler and her family have been proud members of the VCA community for five years. She expresses her excitement about joining the school board, aiming to bring a fresh perspective rooted in her deep commitment to advancing VCA's mission. With a robust legal background, Heather is eager to apply her skills and experience to support the continued growth and success of Victory Christian Academy.

These new members join our existing board: Chris Bell, Adam Ballah, David Rosales, Eric Carlisle, and Tracy Banker. The recent application process, which began in June, involved an application (now located online), multiple interviews and due diligence reviews, along with attendance at board meetings to ensure a thorough selection process.  We look forward to the contributions of our expanded board as we implement our strategic vision and continue to serve God in this mission.

The VCA Board is committed to enhancing transparency and communication with our families. As part of this initiative, as VCA has recently revamped our online presence, we have included a dedicated page for the board on our new website. Visit us at https://www.vcacademy.info/board-of-directors to learn more about who we are and what we’re doing at VCA. We are honored and humbled to serve our VCA community and pray that God guides all our decisions for the glory of His Kingdom.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

ACSI Crisis Response Fund:  Dr. Larry Taylor, President of the Association of Christian Schools International, reached out to all ACSI schools on Monday requesting prayer for four ACSI school communities in the western North Carolina and eastern Tennessee areas that were hit hard by Hurricane Helene.  Three schools were without power yet as of Monday, sustained some damage to their facilities and don’t know when they will re-open.  Asheville Christian School was especially hit hard (see the special report on Fox News https://www.foxnews.com/video/6362938411112).   Please read Dr. Taylor’s update below:

Because they are located close to a reservoir, Asheville Christian Academy endured unfathomable damage. Twenty+ cars and 4 houses came to rest in their ball fields that now resemble a lake. Water settled in the first level of all of their buildings. Crews have already begun recovery efforts. While they are grateful for their insurance coverage, the reality is it will not cover full restoration. Please pray for Jason Putnam, who is in his first year as Head of School at Asheville Christian, and his entire team.

If you are looking for a way to help those affected by Hurricane Helene, ACSI has set up a crisis response fund and is accepting donations at ACSI Crisis Response Fund.  Please pray for these four schools as they address the critical needs of their school communities.

Universal CHOICE Scholarship Program Meeting, Monday, October 14:

VCA will be hosting an informational CHOICE Scholarship meeting sponsored by the My School Options and the Institute of Quality Education.  The "Across the Finish Line" meeting will be on Monday, October 14 at 6:30 pm, at the North Campus.  If your family currently qualifies for CHOICE or if your family does not, we need your help! My School Options is looking to advocate for a universal CHOICE Scholarship (voucher) Program and remove the final barrier, the income requirement! They are looking for parents across the state to share their story and attend parent meetings at your school to help build teams of advocates to get Universal School Choice "Across the Finish Line."  The meeting will last only 30 minutes and give you everything you will need to know about how IQEd hopes to bring voucher access to all families in 2025. We can’t do it without your help!  Click the link to register and get school choice across the finish line!
