John 15:13 – "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends."
Valentine’s Day is often associated with love—roses, chocolates, and heartfelt expressions of affection. While these tokens of love are wonderful, they pale in comparison to the love demonstrated by Jesus Christ. His love is not based on fleeting emotions or temporary gestures but is sacrificial, eternal, and unconditional.
The Bible teaches us that God is love (1 John 4:8). His love was most profoundly expressed through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. While human love can sometimes falter, God's love remains steadfast and unchanging. Jesus demonstrated the ultimate love by laying down His life for us so that we might have eternal life. This act of selfless love surpasses any earthly display of affection.
As we celebrate love today, let’s take a moment to reflect on the greatest love story ever told—the story of Jesus' love for humanity. His love invites us into a deep and personal relationship with Him. It calls us to love others selflessly, just as He loved us.
This Valentine’s Day, let’s not only express love to our family and friends but also extend the love of Christ to those who are hurting, lonely, or in need. Whether through a kind word, a helping hand, or a heartfelt prayer, we can reflect the love of Jesus in our daily lives.
