A Message from the VCA Board of Directors

The Lord’s Prayer is something many of us have recited countless times. But how often do we pause to truly reflect on the meaning behind the words Jesus taught us? This past week, the Bible App shared Matthew 6:11 as its daily scripture, highlighting the line, “Give us this day our daily bread.” My Bible notes suggest this could be interpreted as “give us today the food for the day.” I don’t know about you, but there are times when I wish God would just provide a whole month’s worth of food and leave the rest to me. However, God, in His perfect wisdom, desires us to trust Him, to have faith that He will provide exactly what we need, when we need it.

As I reflect on the journey of VCA, I am filled with excitement about what lies ahead. Though this year has been unique, with no Head of School in place, we have witnessed how God has provided just the right resources, wisdom, and guidance when needed. As a Board, we trust Him with each step, and while there are moments where we feel things are moving more slowly than we’d like, we recognize that VCA is God’s school, and we are simply entrusted to follow His lead and timing—not our own.

With that in mind, I’d like to share an update on some key objectives the Board is focusing on for this school year:

  1. Facilities Solutions:

As VCA prepares for the upcoming enrollment season, a common question arises: Is there room for more students? The Board believes God is calling us to grow VCA strategically from the “ground up.” This means adding one class per year, starting with Kindergarten. By next year, we anticipate having two classes in Kindergarten through 4th grade (this year, we have two classes in K-3). We’re continuing to explore several potential options for additional space for the 2025-26 school year and expect to have more information soon.

  1. Head of School Search:

In December 2024, the search for a new Head of School was re-initiated, and we’ve been encouraged by the strong interest in the position. The Board has appointed an Executive Search Team that is currently working to vet applications and conduct interviews as they come in.

  1. Transition Team:

As you know, the Board formed a Transition Team to lead the school during the 2024-25 school year in the absence of a Head of School. While this was not the path we envisioned, it was the path God provided. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the staff and Board members who have served on this committee. Their dedication, time, and effort—above and beyond their usual

responsibilities—have been incredible. I also want to thank the entire VCA staff for their flexibility, support, and willingness to pitch in wherever needed. In my 20+ years of working with schools, I can honestly say that I have never seen a school operate so smoothly without an “official” leader. This is a testament to the VCA community working together, and each one of you have been placed here by God for a reason. Thank you.

  1. Transparency:

The Board is committed to greater transparency in our strategic planning and efforts this year.  We are also actively listening to feedback, making sure our actions align with what truly benefits our students. We will continue to post regular meeting agendas and updates on the Board page of the VCA website.

As we move forward, we trust that God will provide our “daily bread” as we take each step on the path ahead. We are deeply grateful for the prayers you’ve already offered for our Board, staff, and school, and we humbly ask for your continued prayers. Ephesians 3:20 reminds us: “Glory belongs to God, whose power is at work in us. By this power, He can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine.”

Thank you for being a part of this journey with us.
