Friday Update, January 24

Hitting the 80-year old mark, I have to confess that I have been thinking a lot lately about LEGACY.  I have 3 major prayer objectives that are a part of my daily prayer life--1) To be a godly man   2) To mature in wisdom   3) To leave behind a godly legacy.  Every Christian needs to be aware of the legacy they are in the process of leaving behind.  Your legacy is about sharing the good news of God's grace in your life.  It's about contributing to the building up of the kingdom of God through family, church, and relationships.  Psalm 78:3-4 tells us, "What we have heard and known, what our fathers have told us, we will not hide from our children; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders He has done."

How do we measure up?  Will the faith of our fathers become the faith of our children?  Here are some questions I ask myself often.  In what ways am I making a difference?  Do people know me as a person who daily speaks and lives the truth?  Is what I am building going to be a part of eternity?  Am I investing in that which is greater than myself?  As God leaves His fingerprints on me, do I desire to leave my fingerprints on those I encounter through my life?   Am I an intentional part of the legacy of VCA?  I can't help but think of the words of John Wesley--"Give me a hundred men (students) who are sold out to Jesus Christ and I'll change the world!"

Administration, teachers, staff, and students:  I pray for you daily.  Love you, VCA.
